Rescue operations are in full swing in Jiuzhaigou

The 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Jiuzhaigou County, Sichuan Province at 9:19 p.m, Aug. 9, 2017. The bad news saddened Chinese badly. Rescue teams from all over the world rushed to the site, and local people took immediate actions to save themselves.

Time means life. During the race against time, people disregarded their personal gain or loss and tried their best to provide help for those in need. Now the rescue work still continues, so let's pray for Jiuzhai together!

During the peak tourism season of August, the stranded tourists have been evacuated from the damaged areas under the command. There are only two lanes of S301 provincial highway. In order to make sure that relief personnel and provisions arrive at the damaged area, all  vehicles, including private cars and buses, had to park on one side, and then lined up to leave after the rescue vehicles' passing.

The nearer from the epicenter, the more dreadful  the road damage will be. On the broken winding road, rescue vehicles pass from time to time.

When the earthquake occurred, huge rocks hit several vehicles on the side of the road.

The epicenter was located at Zhangzha Town, near the Jiuzhaigou scenic spot. On the afternoon of August 9, relief personnel cleaned the destroyed infrastructures and fallen stones to clear the road.

In the old town Zhangjiawan of Jiuzhaigou County, military vehicles for rescue lined up in front of the roadblock and waited for instructions. During this time, local volunteers provided water and food for soldiers.

After the earthquake, many rescue forces arrived. Many workers even worked continuously for more than ten hours. When they got tired, they would take a temporary rest at the roadside; when they felt hungry, they would only eat sausages and biscuits.

The Shanghai tourist Han Shengbiao was transferred to Jiuzhaigou County People's Hospital by rescue workers. He received one stitch for the wound on his finger. Then he received an allergy test  to get tetanus shots.

One woman felt out of control because of her leg fracture. The doctor examined her and comforted her at the same time. Every once in a while, there would be new patients arriving at the hospital. Thanks to the considerate doctors and volunteers, the hospital was in a good order.

At the epicentre of Zhangzha Town, temporary shelters were established by the local civil administration department for people who were affected by the disaster. In the shelter, adults were sorting out daily necessities for a normal life, while children were looking all around curiously and learning more about the new enviroment.

When darkness has fallen, two one-meter-diameter cauldrons were set up in the temporary shelters. Without any instructions, people spontaneously joined the special "cooking team" and prepared dinner for residents in the shelter.

For Jiuzhaigou residents, the sudden earthquake disrupted their normal life. When natural disasters happen, lives seem more than significant.

Everyone should, with its limited ability, help the people around them and show love and support for each other as we live together in the world that we all share.
