This week we have two productions by the St Petersburg Children's Ballet Theatre, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. As usual, Craft'd Shanghai continues to bring creative arts and crafts workshops to families in town. Take a look below for detailed listings.

Hands on Dumpling Delights



This trip is for dumpling fans young and old out there. Attendees will get to try mum-and-pop style dumplings off the beaten track - cooked in northeast Chinese style. They will also get to learn the basics of dumpling making with a local Shanghainese chef.

Papirus

Directed by Iolanda Llansó, this nonverbal show explores the lonely journey of a man seeking a connection with other human beings. It shows little ones what it takes to break down personal barriers and communicate with strangers.

Modern calligraphy workshop with Craft'd Shanghai

St Petersburg State Children’s Ballet Theatre presents Swan Lake

Founded in 1992, the St Petersburg State Children's Ballet has an established history of performing internationally. This season, the company has arrived in Shanghai to bring some of classic ballet's most well-known repertoires back to the stage, including Tchaikovsky's crowd-pleasing Swan Lake

The Steadfast Tin Soldier

Produced by Argetinian company Omar Alvarez Theater, this version of Christien Andersen's 'The Steadfast Tin Soldier' reinterprets the children's classic through puppet theatre. The performance is conducted in English and suitable for kids aged three to 10.

CCS Shanghai 123

For another year, Shanghai Community Centre is teaming up with Shanghai 123 to welcome those who have just arrived in town. Staff from both organisations will make sure you're comfortable with the move by introducing you to the city's essential services and apps. They will also be able to answer any burning questions about the city. Lunch and childcare will also be provided for children aged two to 12 free of charge.

Summer family movie series at The Pearl


The Pearl will be screening family-friendly titles every Sunday throughout the summer months. Shanghai families can expect cinema classics like the Harry Potter and the Ice Age series, as well as The Incredibles and more. Entrance is free.

Magic Piano & The Chopin Shorts


This delightful live performance tells the story of Anna and her cousin Chip-Chip, getting on a magical flying piano, starting a journey across Europe in search for her father. The piano soundtrack will be performed by Lang Lang International Music Foundation award winning musician Derek Wang. Suitable for kids over five years old.
