Wellington College Shanghai Festival of Education

Wellington College International Shanghai Festival of Education is an event designed to stimulate debate and purposeful thinking about educational issues. In a world that moves at an astonishing pace and in which notions of ‘skills’ and ‘jobs’ are developing at similar rates, education is having to adapt and respond to all kinds of testing situations.

Following the success of the celebrated event held annually at Wellington in the UK, the Festival of Education is the first of its kind in China, and is an attempt to focus minds on the process of learning, why we learn, and how we learn.

The festival is open to anyone interested in education and the process of learning, whether they are educators, parents or students.

The Festival is structured around three broad strands of inquiry: Innovation, Exploration, and International Perspectives.

Sir Anthony Seldon – 13th Master of Wellington College; political biographer, leading thinker and writer in the field of education. Current Chair of the University of Buckingham.

Dr. Deng Ya Ping – Former player of the Chinese Women's Table Tennis National Team. Voted Chinese Athlete of the Century in 2003.

Jeffrey Forshaw – Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester, broadcaster, script-writer, media guru, and author of ‘The Quantum Universe’ with Brian Cox.
