EVs achieve inter-city mobility in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei

  • Earlier this year, a fast charging network along the Beijing-Shanghai expressway went into service, becoming the first inter-city charging service network among Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Statistics show that a number of electric vehicle (EV) owners made a road trip by their cars in the three regions during the National Day holidays. This means that EVs have achieved inter-city mobility in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.

  • The development and reform commissions of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province have signed a joint action plan for the construction of charging facilities for new-energy vehicles (NEVs) to establish an integrated public charging network in three phases in the three regions.

  • Under the plan, 11 expressways within the three regions will be included in the integrated public charging network. By the end of this year, a charging service network that connects the major cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, and Zhangjiakou, will take shape, with a charging station available every around 50km. The available charging network is expected to cover all major lines over the next two years, and a comprehensive public charging service system would be completed by 2020.

  • The joint construction of NEV charging facilities will help alleviate NEV users’ worries over the driving range and promote the popularization of NEVs in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.
