Mercedes-Benz to announce NEV plans for China on Nov. 20

  • According to Mr. Duan Jianjun, Executive Vice President at BMBS, responsible for Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz will announce its NEV development plans for the Chinese market at Auto Guangzhou 2015, which will kick off on Nov. 20. At this auto show, the German auto giant will announce the launch of the midsize sedan C 350eL and luxury sedan S 500eL, and will showcase its large- and medium-sized SUV GLE 500e.

  • The C 350eL, which debuted at Auto Shanghai 2015, is the first locally-produced plug-in hybrid under Mercedes-Benz brand. It is powered by a 2.0T engine and an electric motor. The lithium battery can be fully charged in three hours under household power outlet and in 1.5 hours in fast charging piles. When solely driven by the electric motor, it can run as far as 31 kilometers. When driven by the hybrid powertrain, it can produce a max power output of 215kW and a peak torque of 599nm.

  • The luxury sedan S 500eL, which also debuted at Auto Shanghai 2015, is powered by a 3.0L turbocharged engine and an electric motor. When driven by the two power units, the model can unleash a max power output of 325kW and a peak torque of 650nm. Both the S 500eL and C 350eL just consume 2.8L fuel per 100 kilometers.

  • The GLE 500e is jointly powered by a 3.0T engine, an electric motor, and a seven-speed transmission. When only driven by the electric motor, it covers a range of 29.6 kilometers. Its battery pack can be fully charged in two hours.
