What Is Inner Peace and How to Find It

What Is Inner Peace?

It is a state of being mentally and emotionally at peace, in one’s day-to-day life, in times when everything moves smoothly, and also when there are problems, difficulties or obstacles. It is the opposite of being stressed or anxious.

It is a state of inner stillness, when the constantly thinking mind comes to rest. In this state, there are no thoughts, or a few thoughts that you can easily ignore.

It is synonymous with peace of mind, serenity, and calmness.

It is not a state of passivity. You can live an active life, work, and do anything else, but at the same time your mind is calm, without disturb thoughts.

It is often accompanied by a sense of deeper and wider awareness, happiness, and even inner strength. In a state of inner peace you nothing external can affect your mind or emotions.

There are various ways to experience inner peace, but all of them require a focused mind and involve some sort of meditation practiced over a period of time.

Some people believe that you experience inner peace, at times, when you are safe or your possessions are safe. This is a limited point of view. Inner peace is much more than this as stated above.

The Mind Is Like a Room Crammed with a Lot of Stuff

The mind is busy from the moment you wake up in the morning, to the moment you fall asleep at night. It is always thinking and moving from one thought to another.

The mind is like a room crammed with a lot of stuff. To see the room, to have more space, and to be able to move freely in this room, you need to clear it from all the unnecessary stuff. It is the same with the mind. To enjoy a sense of freedom, happiness and strength, you need to clear your mind of the unnecessary stuff.

Thoughts are often negative in nature, the mind dwelling on real or imaginary problems, wrongs, hurts and memories. This prevents one from experiencing inner peace.

Thoughts, fears, worries, and endless thinking prevent the mind of being at peace, creating tension and stress.

When you can free your mind from unnecessary thoughts, from all fears and worries, your mind will be free and at peace. It becomes like a calm ocean in a good weather and a sunny day.
