With the incoming typhoon cooling us down, things are also getting quieter on the event front for families. Still, here are some great Shanghai events to fill in the calendar here and there. Samajam is a fun-packed interactive musical experience for audiences young and old. Brought to Shanghai by the Montreal group under the leadership of artistic director Louis Bellemare, this performance will transform you and the kids into full-fledged musicians.

Legendary Mid Autumn Gifts by Fairmont Peace Hotel

Fairmont Peace Hotel is offering Mid-Autumn gift boxes to celebrate the upcoming festival in September. Box flavours range from traditional options like red bean paste, mung bean paste and lotus paste with salty egg yolk to more modern flavours such as jasmine tea and Mocha coffee. The boxes are priced at 198RMB to 338RMB each, depending on your flavour combination.

Craft Walk with Craft'd Shanghai

For the more creative families, Craft'd Shanghai's tour will take children to the city's most central arts and crafts markets where they will be able to stock up on handicraft and DIY essentials. The tour will start in People's Square and finish around 1pm near Yuyuan Garden.

Shanghai 101 with Community Centre Shanghai and Shanghai 123

For another year, Shanghai Community Centre is teaming up with Shanghai 123 to welcome those who have just arrived in town. Staff from both organisations will make sure you're comfortable with the move by introducing you to the city's essential services and apps. They will also be able to answer any burning questions about the city. Lunch and childcare will also be provided for children aged two to 12 free of charge.

The Ultimate Sunday Brunch at Yi Cafe

Pudong Shangri-La's Yi Cafe is expanding its repertoire with a brunch spread that includes German, Japanese, French, Korean, Indian and more culinary infleunces. While the sophisticated flavours will please the parents, kids may also opt for a specially designed buffet programme that also encompasses face painting, magic shows and playing at the adjacent kids centre.
