Festive season: Luxury hotels in Sanya light up Xmas trees

As Christmas and New Year are approaching fast, many five-star hotels at major bays in Sanya are offering special packages and holding Christmas tree lighting ceremonies with all the joy and trimmings of the festive season and to ultimately welcome the new year of 2016.

Tangla Hotel Sanya

Tangla Hotel Sanya hosted its annual Lighting Ceremony to kick-off the festive season of Christmas on November 27th.

The hotel demonstrated its expectation and vision for the upcoming year in a special way: they unveiled an adorable cartoon Christmas tree in town. The Christmas tree was decorated with cartoons from top to bottom, such as Mickey Mouse, Garfield, Doraemon, Minions and SpongeBob.

The traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony began with the wonderful choir of Christmas carols sang by a group of students from Sanya International School. The hotel contributed to the community by raising donations to the students in a local school who were invited to the hotel for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya Yalong Bay

A traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony took place on November 28th, in the Hotel Lobby of The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya Yalong Bay at 7:00 p.m. Choral performance by the Sanya International School and gourmet holiday treats prepared by the hotel’s award-winning culinary team were part of the agenda. Meanwhile, the hotel has unveiled its mascot - Prince Leo - to the public, in celebration of this special occasion.

To be noted, The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya Yalong Bay is also presenting a calendar of festive highlights this season, including a “Nothing Ordinary” Food & Wine Festival from December 10th to 13th.

The premier gourment event will feature 8 globally renowned professional Chefs and experts from world-famous wineries and distilleries.

Pullman Oceanview Sanya Bay


Pullman Oceanview Sanya Bay Resort & Spa launched a Christmas Lighting Ceremony & Charity Auction on Nov. 30th. The whole event included Christmas Carols, Piano Performance, Charitable Donation and Auction, and the Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Unlike other lighting ceremony, this time the hotel made this event a meaningful impact on the community via charity auction & raising funds for “The Bright Connection” – the place providing opportunities of rehabilitation for the handicapped children.

“We are thrilled that Pullman Oceanview Sanya Bay Resort & Spa has already been honored with relationship with this charity organization,” said general manager Mr. Richard Rennie. “With 30 years of development in China, Accor Hotels has launched many great CSR projects, as part of this big family in Hainan, we will continue with our commitment to this responsibility”.

‘Silver-Bells’ Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Sanya Marriott Hotel Dadonghai Bay.

Sanya Marriott Hotel Dadonghai Bay held their silver themed ‘Silver-Bells’ Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in the evening of December 1st, 2015 to usher into the celebratory spirit and exciting activities leading to Christmas Day celebration.

Mr. Julian Wong, General Manager of the hotel and his management team welcomed all the guests, partners and media friends as well as expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation for their support during the past one year since the hotel opened.

Later, Julian invited Mr. Li, the principal of Sanya International School and Mr. Wang, the hotel’s DGM and three kids to kick off the lighting ceremony. A Christmas choir group of 25 extremely cute students from the Sanya International School gave a wonderful singing performance with their beautiful rhythmic voices amplifying the warm festive atmosphere. Santa Claus and Santa Rinas made a pleasant surprise appearance and handed out bountiful of presents and gifts to the little children and the evening ends with fun, friendship, festive mood, great food and happiness.

InterContinental Sanya Resort

To kick off the special seasonal celebration of the hotel, InterContinental Sanya Resort held a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 4th, 2015. Over 180 guests, from local authorities, media, travel agencies and hotel in-house were invited to this event.

Started with the traditional Christmas Carols performed by the children's choir from Canadian International School of Sanya, the ceremony was hosted by the Hotel General Manager, Mr. Geoffrey Ryan. The ceremonial event was made more meaningful for Sanya Bright Connection to total received a RMB19, 773 from InterContinental Sanya Resort. The Intercontinental Sanya Resort invites hotel guests and staffs to participate in the charity auction to show their love and care to help children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and other challenges in Sanya, as the essence of the Christmas spirits it’s all about love and giving.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and scrumptious appetizers prepared by the hotel's highly skilled culinary team, it was most excited for guests to watch that the largest Yule log cake carry on by 6 chefs marched in. The Yule cake's total weight approximates 169 kg, consisting of 60 Kg butter, 780 eggs 18 kg flour, 20 kg sugar and 11kg chocolate, etc.

Starting from December 4th, 2015 a series of magical Christmas and New Year activities at the tropical island of InterContinental Sanya Resort brighten this season of merrymaking! The hotel is presenting a calendar of special Christmas events like the Festive Dinners on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. On December 31st, 2015, come and be part of New Year Eve countdown party at hotel's beach bar and Asian Village.

MGM Grand Sanya

MGM Grand Sanya unveiled the Christmas and New Year festive season by holding its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 5th, 2015.

The lighting ceremony started with a wonderful choir of Christmas carols and a series of interactive games including making hand-drawing Christmas cards and hand-made Christmas balloon hats, ring toss games and giving away gifts to children. The hotel also invited a troupe to bring clown performances, stilt walking and electro dance to celebrate this special occasion.

Hilton Sanya Yalong Bay Resort

The Hilton Sanya Yalong Bay Resort & Spa marked the beginning of this year’s Christmas celebrations on December 6th with a joyful Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the hotel lobby.

During the ceremony, a Santa Claus appeared, surprising everyone, and gave out Christmas gifts to the children. All the guests enjoyed seasonal delicacies, including Christmas desserts and baked goodies.

The hotel staffs, together with children invited from Bayi Kindergarten, presented their wonderful choir singing and shared the spirit of the season with the hotel’s guests and children. Also partook in the event were Sanya Xindi Latin Sports Dance Center and Sanya Top International Dance Training Center, who showcased their brilliant dance skills on this special occasion.

InterContinental Sanya

Haitang Bay Resort

InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort hosted its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in the hotel lobby to kick-off the festive season on December 6th.

The hotel invited 20 children and teachers from the Sanya Social Welfare House to attend the lighting ceremony. After that, they visited the aquarium and made hand-drawing T-shirts with the hotel staff.

Pullman Sanya Yalong Bay

Villas & Resort

Pullman Sanya Yalong Bay Villas & Resort held its Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 7th, 2015.

The hotel invited 26 families from their customers to attend the ceremony and lighted the Christmas tree together with the hotel management team whilst the live Filipino band brought Christmas carols. Various Christmas drinks, cocktails, cookies and snacks have been delivered to the customers by Christmas Angels to warm up the ceremony.

The Christmas tree has been lightened by all attendees in a generous countdown after Mr. Philip WU, Director of Operations of the hotel finished his short speech to wish all a Merry Christmas and happy new year.
