Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw from Amsterdam is one of the best Jazz orchestras in Europe. Its collaborations with the world’s top Jazz musicians and a long history of contributing to the jazz tradition with original compositions, has made Amsterdam a center of Jazz in Europe and expanded the ensemble’s reputation all over the world. Members of the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw are among the best Dutch Jazz musicians; most have international solo careers.

Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw was founded in 1996, the original name of which is New Music Band. It based in the renowned Concertgebouw since 1999, as the reputation went up, the orchestra changed its name into “Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw”. The orchestra consists of 18 talented musicians, and they often cooperate with Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis and other world-class jazz maestros which enable the orchestra as one of the world’s top jazz orchestras. The orchestra plays compositions and arrangements written by both its musicians and/or the conductor. All pieces are arranged especially for the orchestra. The jazz orchestra is widely loved by audience around the world. In addition, it made a great success for the 2009 China tour.

Ruben Hein

It doesn’t happen very often; a talent that completely grabs you with his debut album. Ruben Hein is such a talent. In November 2010, he made his debut with “Loose Fit”, which released on the most prestigious jazz label Blue Note/EMI. Ruben Hein was instantly hailed as the Netherlands’ new JAZZ/POP sensation. The first single, Elephants, was playlisted on all national radio stations. In 2011, Ruben performed in many clubs and major events like JavaJazz Festival in Indonesia and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Dutch. In addition, he held a special concert with the famous Metropole Orchestra at the Carre Royal Theater in Amsterdam, which was later released as a live album: “Ruben Hein Live”.

It was followed by EP label’s “Ruben Hein Revisited” which contains instrumental jazz versions of some of the songs he made famous in “Loose Fit”. 2012 was a year in which Ruben mainly worked on his second album: “Hopscotch”, released in 2013.

Now he has just released his fifth album: “Ruben Hein Dressed Up”, and enjoys a flourishing career of television appearances and live concerts. Most recently he has been championed by the great Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw as one of the jazz world’s most brilliant rising stars.
